What a great way to spend a day for musical theatre young artists. Register for either or both sessions in this 1-Day Workshop. You'll enjoy the dance steps of broadway routines as our Broadway Artist Instructors wow you with some of Broadway's best known Musical Steps. We'll warm up with Carly from BROADWAY'S HIT "HAMILTON" with familiar steps you've seen or want to see, then move on to an amazing session with MATILDA's Becky! She'll prepare you with steps to view for an amazing casting director coming at 1pm!

Karla GarciaKarla is currently in the Broadway cast of HAMILTON.Originally from Oxon Hill, MD, Karla danced competitively for 15 years under the tutelage of Fran Peters. Her first professional gig was at 12 years old, when she performed with Debbie Allen and James Ingram in the Kennedy Center production “Brothers of the Knight.” She got the bug and dreamed of NYC! Karla attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts on a $75,000 scholarship, completing a BFA in dance and a minor in journalism. At NYU, she performed works by Kyle Abraham, Dwight Rhoden, and Bridget Moore. At age 20, she made her Broadway debut in HOT FEET, a dance musical directed by Maurice Hines. She went on to perform in the National Tours of WICKED and ADDAMS FAMILY; and the Broadway revivals of WEST SIDE STORY and GIGI. Karla was a top 7 female TV finalist on FOX’s SYTYCD Season 5. Other credits include Rasta Thomas’ BAD BOYS OF DANCE; VH1 Divas Live; Anna Nicole Opera at BAM; the Comedy Awards, PBS’s Sinatra Live at Lincoln Center, and the Radio City Show. Karla was also a principal dancer for 9 episodes of NBC’s SMASH season 2. In 2011, Karla was named UNIpro Magazine’s “Top 30 Filipinos Under 30.

Becky has over 20 years of well-balanced training including ballet, jazz, modern, tap, clogging, and Latin & Ballroom. She earned her degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Spanish and Dance at San Diego State University. Her professional career began with Positive Energy Dance Company in San Diego, which gave her valuable training in Salsa and Argentine Tango, with a heavy emphasis on tricks and lifts. Becky’s extensive and varied experience includes performing in and choreographing professional musicals throughout the country, directing children’s musicals in Mexico (in Spanish,) studying Flamenco in Spain and teaching salsa to at-risk youth. Some of her favorite credits include Follies with the Broadway cast, working for Holland America Line as a Show Director, dancing on giant cake in the feature film Ted 2, performing across the country in over 20 musicals including Cats (Cassandra,) Al l Shook Up (Miss Sandra,) Chicago (June,) and of course, dancing in that iconic line of Rockettes in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. She worked for Matilda Broadway and touring companies as the Dance Demonstrator at auditions, and traveled as their Press Representative for the Dance Department. As an experienced dance instructor she loves to share the joy that dance has brought to her with students of all ages.

Feel free to register for either session or both! We'll take a lunch break at 11:30am - Noon, then move back into choreography! It's gonna be a great day of movement and learning. Don't miss it!
