*TV/Film On-Camera Classes limited to 10. Register early to ensure seat.
Our most popular class and our specialty. ATNY On Camera focuses on script analysis, characterization, honesty and the subtlety of the genre. Good habits start early…so do bad.
The camera doesn’t lie, and if you do, you won’t be believable. Your goal is to be authentic, natural and learn how to direct your focus. Most young actors continue to play to audience and focus on themselves. It’s not where you want to be. Actors have a simple focus and you need to learn what it is and hone it. There’s no audience. You’re not responsible for influencing the audience. This should be a continuing class for all young actors, with new material and scene partners, each and every semester.
If you want to be a better auditioned, become a better actor. It will always be about the actor’s substance over how the tape actually looks (but, let’s not discount that too much, it’s still important). In this class, students continue to learn to incorporate a sense of self, and let go of all things performance, and over-the-top theatrical and artificial mannerisms. Make the camera mark your comfort zone. No “performing” arts. ATNY will distribute dramatic and comedic scenes and monologues and every young actor will have 2-scripts during their 9-week class to hone.
