From Stage to Page for Young Actors!  We know you love theatre.  We do too!  But, if you’re looking for a diversified and bountiful career, you must be open to on camera.  In this Spring 4-Week Series, we’ll focus on the differences between ON STAGE and ON CAMERA acting, and begin with Meisner Technique exercises.

Stage is, in our opinion, a necessary art form for every actor.  There’s no safety net, except you and your cast.  With on camera, there is a difference with given circumstance, if you will.  There’s no audience.  Your acting is independent of the audience, and it’s not your job to influence them one way or another.  Your moments are private.  Your emotions are not shared.

The camera will repel you if you are too big.  So, can you do both in your career.  Absolutely, and you should be able to switch from one genre to the other on a dime.  At the end of these brief 4 weeks, you’ll have a full understanding of the difference between ON STAGE and ON PAGE acting for camera, and will have begun the mastery of proper acting technique for Screen.  All actors will get one class of improvisation from Top Improv instructor Alex.  Life is improv, as your acting should be uncontrolled and spontaneous.  Learn to go with your first impulse.  It’s usually the right choice.
