This performance based class is for all levels, even beginners, as we work towards a final presentation in the real world! We encourage all levels to join us as we prep to sing for the elderly, the handicapped or whichever wonderful group we embrace for the semester!
How do you prepare for an audition or performance? How do you create a dynamic presence on stage, when solo and in collaboration with fellow performers? How do you improve your vocal technique so you can sound your best? How do you build a collection of songs (repertoire) ready to go for auditions and talent competitions? Together, we’ll tackle all of these questions and more so you can set yourself up for success as a musical performer and for a great cause.
Building repertoire and gaining performance experience are fundamental tasks for any aspiring or current musical theatre performer. With musical accompaniment, you will learn a selection of songs with the support of our vocalist instructor. As you progress with each song, you’ll receive guidance on stage presence as well as crucial elements of vocal technique such as breath support, pitch, rhythm, harmony, vocal registration, belting, vocal resonance, posture, and more.
*This class includes real-world performance experience: There’s nothing like diving into the world of musical theatre performance, head-first! At the end of the semester, you will receive the opportunity to showcase your hard work and be a part of a charity performance chock-full of young talent (yes, you!). Whether you’re interested in music, acting, musical theatre, Broadway, or all of the above, performing helps you build critical skills from memorizing lyrics to being prepared to stage presence and performing with others on stage.
