This dynamic 5-day acting camp helps young performers discover the exciting differences between acting for the stage and acting for the screen—and how to confidently do both. Students will explore how performance choices change depending on the audience, space, and camera, while building versatility, focus, and professionalism as actors.
Throughout the week, students will work on the same scenes and characters, adapting them for live theatre and on-camera performance. They’ll learn how to scale their voice, movement, and emotions—going big for the stage and subtle for the screen—while understanding what casting directors and directors look for in each medium.
What Students Will Learn:
- Voice & Projection vs. Microphone & Natural Speech
How to use breath and projection for the stage, and how to speak truthfully and intimately for the camera. - Movement & Blocking vs. Camera Awareness
Expansive physicality and stage presence compared with stillness, framing, and hitting marks on camera. - Emotional Size & Focus
Exploring heightened theatrical storytelling versus subtle, internal screen acting. - Audience vs. Camera Connection
Performing for a live audience versus telling the story through the lens. - Text & Scene Adaptation
How the same script can be played differently depending on the medium.
Daily Highlights May Include:
- Theatre games and ensemble-building
- Stage scene rehearsals with live performance techniques
- On-camera acting exercises and filmed scenes
- Watching and analyzing stage and film clips
- Side-by-side comparisons of stage vs. screen performances
This camp is perfect for students curious about theatre, film, or both, and helps build confidence, adaptability, and a deeper understanding of the actor’s craft in any performance setting.
