This engaging 5-day acting class gives young performers the chance to explore two essential styles of on-screen storytelling: sitcom comedy and dramatic acting. Students will work with age-appropriate scenes from television and film, learning how acting choices shift depending on tone, pacing, and genre.
Throughout the week, students will break down scripts, build believable characters, and rehearse both fast-paced comedic scenes and emotionally grounded dramatic scenes. They’ll learn how timing, listening, and physicality drive comedy, while honesty, intention, and emotional connection power dramatic performances.
What Students Will Learn:
- Sitcom Acting Techniques
Comic timing, reaction shots, physical comedy, heightened characters, and working within multi-camera or single-camera styles. - Dramatic Scene Work
Emotional truth, active listening, character objectives, and staying present in serious, story-driven scenes. - Script & Character Analysis
Understanding tone, relationships, and stakes in both comedy and drama. - On-Camera Skills
Awareness of framing, subtlety, and consistency for filmed performances. - Versatility as an Actor
How to quickly shift between comedy and drama—an essential skill for auditions and real-world acting opportunities.
The class culminates in a scene showcase, where students perform or screen both a sitcom-style scene and a dramatic scene, demonstrating their growth and range as actors.
This class is perfect for young performers who want to sharpen their skills, build confidence, and discover what it takes to succeed in both comedic and dramatic roles.
