The camera picks up everything. It simply doesn’t lie. Once you are caught ‘acting’ on camera, you’re done. The viewer checks out. In this TV/Film class, teen actors may choose the genre of copy they wish to hone. Scripts will also be given for exercise purposes. Actors will learn how to become more natural, real and not feel the need to control the scene. It’s never about the lines. It’s always about what you are trying to do the other person and what you ultimately need. If you are currently auditioning, this will help your self tapes immensely.
Actors Will Learn:

- Disregard the Audience. There is none.
- Where to Focus and How to use Your Camera Space.
- An Actor’s Intention and Intensity. Subtext vs. Text.
- Don’t try to Show Your Feelings.
- How to Start Auditions Strong.
Whether you are auditioning for a Dick Wolf Production or a Nickelodeon/Disney Pilot, you need to understand the genre as it affects your technique on camera. We’ll explore all and welcome actors to bring personal copy from the past with them.
*ATNY’s Final Industry Showcase is now optional. Current fall actors who would like to participate in the multi industry showcase will get a reduced price from those not in our program, and must register separately. You may do this at the beginning of the term or anytime up to the showcase. Final showcase consists of 3-Rooms of Agents, Managers and Casting Directors.
